Kevin T. Hunt to Join Office Law Firm to be Renamed Gale Gale & Hunt, LLC
Gale & Dancks, LLC is delighted to announce that Kevin T. Hunt will join the firm as a partner and the office will be renamed Gale Gale & Hunt, LLC. Kevin, a highly regarded litigator with an emphasis on the defense of medical, dental and legal malpractice claims and the defense of catastrophic personal injury claims, has tried over 50 jury cases to verdict. A graduate of Washington and Lee University with a BA in Economics, Hunt earned his law degree from Syracuse University College of Law in 1991. Kevin was recently named a SuperLawyer, a designation limited to the top 5% of practitioners in the area. He is a frequent lecturer on trial practice issues for the local and State Bar Associations and is a regular contributor to MD News, authoring articles such as Protect your Medical License, Guidelines for the Defense of Malpractice Claims and Tort Reform Takes a Step Backwards. He serves as an arbitrator for the City of Syracuse Small Claims Court and is a former board member of the Town of Onondaga Board of Assessment Review, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and Syracuse Meals on Wheels. Kevin coaches little league baseball and lacrosse. He resides in Onondaga with his wife Kathleen and their three children.

Dancks will take seat on the Federal Bench
With pride and sadness, Gale & Dancks announces that our colleague Thérèse Wiley Dancks is resigning from the firm in order to assume the bench as the newly selected Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of New York. The eight year appointment will commence in early February, 2012 upon the retirement of current Magistrate Judge George Lowe. Thérèse, together with Catherine Gale, started the firm in January 1997 and, over the years, worked to grow the office to its current complement of seven attorneys and five paralegals, concentrating on the defense of hospitals, physicians and other healthcare providers.

American College of Trial Attorneys
has named Catherine Gale a member of its national Outreach Committee. Made up of 22 representatives from across the country and Canada, the Committee will work with state and province committees providing leadership and education on the College's resources. The College, widely considered to be the premier professional trial organization in America, was founded in l950 and is dedicated to maintaining and improving the standards of trial practice, the administration of justice and the ethics of the profession.

Gale named to merit selection panel
Catherine Gale has been named as one of the 10 appointees to sit on the Merit Selection Panel for the appointment of a new Magistrate Judge to the United States District Court, Northern District of New York.

Fischmann speaks to colleagues about trial practice
Associate Kristy Fischmann was invited by the New York State Bar Association to sit on a panel of attorneys in Syracuse to discuss trial practice skills. Her presentation involved bills of particulars.

Gale invited to give Rounds to Orthopedic Department at University Hospital
Catherine Gale talked with residents and faculty at SUNY Upstate, Department of Orthopedics April 21st on the Business of Medicine. The lecture covered a broad range of regulatory issues facing physicians today as well as suggestions of business practices physicians can institute to limit risk.

Dancks lectures to nursing students
Thérèse Wiley Dancks lectured to the senior registered nursing student class at St. Elizabeth College of Nursing in Utica. The lecture entitled "Hospital Nursing and Medical Malpractice," provided the 110 member class with information about the legal accountability and responsibility of registered nurses in the clinical setting.

Catherine Gale has been named President of the Central New York Chapter of ABOTA, a national organization of trial attorneys committed to preserving the jury system. Membership into ABOTA is by invitation only and candidates must demonstrate actual and substantial jury trial experience in order to qualify for consideration.

Rita M. Bertrand, RN, NP joins Gale & Dancks
Rita Bertrand, a nurse practitioner with over 30 years of clinical experience in specialties ranging from oncology to gastroenterology, has joined the office as Nurse Paralegal. She will work with our attorneys and clients to develop an understanding of the medical issues in a case, to research standards of care and to assist in obtaining appropriate consultants and experts.
